Yes...this latest downsize was both significant and abrupt. Our local affiliate (Camera World of Oregon) was given a one day warning before closing their doors, January 18 of this year.

The stores here in the Portland area (Kits/Ritz/Wolf/Camera World) stocked Pentax from 2007 (perhaps earlier) through each phase of bankruptcies and downsizing until this winter when they pulled out of the Northwest completely with the close of the Camera World store.

Made me curious about the shops here. We have a few hole in the wall shops and a couple bigger ones. I checked Bennetts website and they have 1camera, nikon d500 for one hundred thousand dollars. I got my laugh for the day.

I just saw last week that the Camera World store was closed up. I have lots of memories from there, whether DV camcorders, SonyAlpha A700 or their brief Pentax alliance.
Bummer that it's gone.

Finally talked my wife into going there, we both hate driving in Portland, but me more than her so I talked her into driving. So we get there, park and walk up to the door. And they are closed and gone. I guess I took too long to get there...............

Ritz/Wolf/etc are still in the Dallas area. KEH did an in-store at Wolf in Plano last year and I stopped by for the first time. It was a larger store but not very inviting. Waited for the KEH person, sold my items, and left after a quick walk-through without anyone from Wolf saying a word to me.

I would check to see if that's a gray market item. I had dealings with Ritz a year or so ago when they were selliing something on Amazon (sold and shipped by Ritz, hence Amazon's status as a dealer won't help). Was gray market; they label it as "international." Not bad necessarily, just a warranty issue.

Check out the Ritz returns policy. It's not any where near as good as the big boys'.

Also, their customer service leaves something to be desired. I called their customer support phone twice last week. Waited for a long time - no answer.

I bought my first dslr - Pentax K100 -in a Ritz store in Northern VA in 2007. I still have it, and I still periodically shoot with it. Good camera.
