The extended warranty for the K-7 is more or less worthless, since no authorized dealers in the US haven't carried new K-7's for years...

It looks like focus camera and other NYC stores have plenty in stock, though!

It seems like the ad is for the camera too. Listing seems ambiguous.

Where did you get that idea?

It is just for a piece of paper that is worthless as a warranty.. Skip the K-7 anyways as it is rather terrible by today's standards.. at least with ISO handling... You can get soo much more camera for the dollars looking elsewhere (at a nice K-5 II, K-3, K-50, etc)

I saw the listing on the US eBay site too.

I found it interesting that I could purchase a 3-year Square Trade warranty to protect the Pentax warranty. You never know when you are going to drop the card or spill coffee on it.

OK - information gleaned from the ad

1. "Brand New in Original Packaging"
2. potage cost = USD$70
3. listed under "digital cameras"
4. Brand = Pentax
5. Manufacturer = Pentax

With the above in mind I interpret the ad to be selling a Pentax K-7 with an extended +2 year warranty.

Postage is US$61 to Australia. A lot of money if it's a warranty without a camera.

No worries. I did and didn't at the same time. Anyway, poor listing as the 'detailed' part started talking about a K20d.

I guess my other confusions was this - how can you sell a 2+ year warranty for an item that is discontinued AND the warranty can only be valid from the time of registering the camera ....... with the camera being new.

I guess this added to my thought that the listing 'included' the camera. Anyway - silly listing.

Unless you can find a dealer with a new old stock K-7, I think it's pretty unlikely that anyone will be able to use them. Having said that, Samy's is listing a demo K-7 at the moment which may qualify:
Pentax | K-7 14.6 MP Camera Kit w/18-55mm WR Lens - Black (Open Box) | 17831
I guess Focus Camera is just trying to get a buck back on their old stock, rather than just throwing them in the trash.

Further it says 'K7 Camera Extended Warranty Statement1.' and details the terms warranty only -- no mention of the camera specs or features.

Further Further, the UPC included references the Extended Warranty if you plug that number into google. If you highlight text in your browser, right click, you should have options to search for that in a search engine (google bing or duckduckgo usually).

It is just a warranty!

Cool. The listing just didn't make sense. Your detective works is most appreciated. If it were a run out on K-7 left over stock then I would have been over it like a rash
