Now sorry to flog the already dead horse but i've just started to look for something like this for my K100ds and was just wondering if someone could thrust me in the general direction of where to get this, i've seen a few on ebay but build qualitly looks a bit suss
ok ok i know is sounds like a stupid q, but any help would be most helpfull
Just got mine! Wow!! I love it! Used it today for a graduation photo shoot and boy... I've never taken so many shots and not have to worry about the battery. Not to mention the grip stabilizing my DA* 50-135 and massive flash on the K100D.
Anyways, Ben, here's my brief review:
Pros:
-Nice and lightweight
-Creates a nice grip for the K100D (especially for my big hands!)
-Balances the weight out (not much heavier with grip on! Feels lighter!)
-Extra battery power = more shots!! Less changing out of batteries!!
-Don't have to remove the K100D battery door
-Can still use the AA's if you want!
Cons:
-No vertical shutter (I'm okay with this but others may not)
-Flimsy on/off switch
-Smelled like really new plastic when I first got it
Other than that, so far so good. It's going to be a permanent resident of my camera now :P
i bought one online the company is from china it cost me $58 including shipping it took a week to get it and now i have it....tested it so far and fairly happy with it...just hope it wont burn the insides of my camera...have seen somebody used a generic grip for a fuji s2 and after 3 months of using it burned the insides of the fuji s2....did somebody experience this one on a pentax....and would like to know if it does shoot 2000 shot on a full load...being sick already of my aa bats always showing dead on the lcd...
My AA's go dead pretty quickly too. I bought some rechargely Nimh high capacity ones and they last pretty good.
I haven't used my camera that much yet to test it, but so far it's lasted about 2 days of shooting and it hasn't died yet. This is after it's first full charge.
I also received mine and it seems fine. I tested the voltage of the grip when it arrived (mine arrived charged) and after a full charge and it was 5.99 volts, so it's right up to k100d specifications.
The Travor is permanently mounted on my K100DS, but the camera is only lightly used since I bought the K20D. A few times when I went to use the K100, the battery grip was dead. I thought maybe I'd forgotten to switch the grip's power button off (which shouldn't matter anyway), but that wasn't the problem this time. It was clear that the grip discharged in a few weeks with only very light use. I wouldn't think this should happen but maybe I'm being too optimistic?

Mine's still chugging along. But I hate how it'll just suddenly discharge and the camera will turn off when the battery dies. This is the only way I know the battery is dead. Dang!
Otherwise, I've had this battery and grip last me for days on end without charging. So far so good. If it dies, I just switch to an emergency set of AA's and recharge the grip at home.
I've decided I was asking too much. The lithium batteries for my K20D are lasting about the same amount of time in storage. I just have to be a little more diligent about periodic recharges.
It's a beautiful camera, but I still love my K100DS. My advice is to wait until you can afford to upgrade without selling the K100.
Note that the BG-2 grip is four times the cost of the Travor.
