haha... that's what I'm doing. trying to save for the K20D...
...in time...
...I will have my pppprreeeeccciiooouuuusss...

The BG-2 also has a vertical shutter release, though, and also a compartment to swap out batteries from what I understand. And it doesn't smell like 'just manufactured' plastic (like when I got my Travor). That to me makes it worth the cost. But the Travor does the job for my K100D just fine. It's one of the best upgrades I've made for it.

hi..

This is my first post at this forum and i'm glad to know you (Pentaxians) here..
All the while,I encountered problems with all my AA's batteries and finally i found this site that gives me valuable information about Pentax's equipment.

It sounds good for the battery grip from Travor and me too had placed an order for the grip from China through ebay. It seems the result are positive from all of you but there is a question that i wish to ask.

Is the grip safe to use with the K100DS?? And is there any posibility that the battery grip will discharged my memory card due to battery leakage or there is any "body burning" issue from using this grip? Noob here and thanks...

Hmm... my K100D is still working? No issues with mine so far. And on top of that, it's super light!

uh... should be able to hold onto it's power for a while, assuming that you don't keep it in freezing conditions (But I know Malaysia never really has anything below 20C anyways. haha).

I've used a single battery charge for about 3 weeks now, most of it sitting as I have a K200D. And it still works fine.

Have you tried Sanyo eneloops?
They keep their charge a lot longer than standard NiMH accumulators and they also deliver considerably longer than higher spec NiMH in the camera since their voltage doesn't drop as early.

Perhaps you could get a set as a backup for your grip.

Previously i used PoweRex.. and it seems it can't retent the voltage for more than a week.. and now it's condemm. Maybe because of the "rapid charge" killed the batteries. Planning to get a set of Imedion, something like Eneloop as back up

I ordered one a few weeks ago and recieved it the other day. I can't get it to work. Did anyone else have this problem. I have sen an email back to the seller and he wants me to take some photos of it and send them to him.

I charged it up till the red light turned green and got nothing. Checked the manual and made sure there was not gaps between grip and camera. Also put it back on the charger over night still nothing.

I just don't know if I'm doing something wrong when I mount it on the camera. Maybe I'm not moving the on/off switch over enough.

How hard did you guys turn the mounting screw?

How hard/far over did the on/off button go?

Do you guys turn the grip on first or the camera when it's mounted?

Thanks for any help

Bob

i have not had the issue you speak of, but my brothers K100D did not like it much even though it works on my K100D!

it is irrelivant which order the power switches are activated!
You should not have to tighten too hard to the base of camera....

I hope you get it sortted!
It is a great battery when working!

Thanks for the reply. I will let them know what you said about your brothers camera.

I was thinking it shouldn't matter what order I turned them on, but wanted to make sure.

We are talking back and forth by email but not much getting done.

Thanks again

k100d battery grip

heya, peeps! was just wondering, does anyone know where i can get a bttery grip for my k100ds, with a vertical shutter button. i know pentax didn't make one. but i got one from Travor, a 3rd party manufacturer, but it didn't come with the vertical shutter button, which is basically what made me want to buy a battery grip in the first place. there's HK$450 i'll never see again.

i saw one a couple of weeks ago, where there was a vertical shutter button, but the thing had a wire sticking at the side and i don't mind that. i got big hands and it's not very comfortable having your pinky at the base of the camera when i take photos.

please help!

Welcome to the forums theremeister!
You might have seen the ownuser battery grip. Try to google it.
It has 2 vertical shutter buttons, on the left and on the right side of the grip.
Hope this helps!
