GX-10 won't fire external flash.

I have a old Vision Lux VL-25TDZ external flash that works fine on my MG, but wont go off at all on my GX-10. I checked the voltage multiple times, both the fully charged and charging voltages on the sync are under 5 volts, could my GX-10 have a bad hot shoe, or is there some menu option I'm missing? Also, does anyone know how international the samsung international warranty is, I have a 3 year international warranty, will I be able to use it here in Guatemala or will I need to send my camera up to the states first?

Do you have any idea what the flash trigger voltage is? Old flashes typically had high trigger voltages that will cook today's electronically driven digital cameras. The old cameras had mechanical contact point hot shoes that could take just about anything and some flashes reached or exceeded 600 volts. Today's bodies are designed for around 6 volts and never more than 30 volts.

You need to test the trigger voltage with the flash and a multimeter. If it's more than 25 volts it should not be used on any digital SLR. You may have damaged the camera already but the other thing might be that the trigger pin didn't line up perfectly on the shoe. If so consider yourself lucky.

Aye, the trigger voltage is 5 volts, checked it a few times as I said above. Shouldn't have damaged it.
