Hi , Any information on remote controls for k10d? I seem to get generic brands and universal remotes in my searches. Is there a dedicated Pentax remote and would it also work on a k20d if purchased in the future? Thanks in advance. Jaab
I've managed to use 2 different cheap universal remotes, they are a little more bulky than the pentax one, but what the hell. (note get the ones with the different codes for the different devices) one of the codes that works is one coresponding to a sony cd player.
sorry about the wierd links, these were the best online pictures i could find at short notice.

It's not made by Pentax but works great with my K200D. It's also cheap, $3.97 shipped! It should work with other Pentax models as well and works on my friend's Nikon D80 too.

I think the reason they are more bulky than the pentax ones is because they are meant to be used on TV's or Cd players as you mentioned. We all on the same page here?
I originally had a Jianisi shown above, but found it was rather unreliable. Sometimes triggered, sometimes didn't. Changed to Pentax F, had no problems since.
I bought the Pentax remote, the one which uses IR and can trigger the camera from either its rear or front, within a reasonable distance. It works fine, but has a very distinct disadvantage - if you don't use it within 5 minutes (as I recall) it will no longer work until you go to the camera and reset it. For taking shots while hidden in a blind or something similar, this is totally unacceptable to me.
So, I built myself a wired remote, with several choices of lengths of wire runs to the camera. In addition, this allows me to use two features - one to refocus and the other to trip the shutter. Each has its own push button switch in my homebrew remote. And the 5 minute cutoff is avoided.
I took a look at the Pentax remote and it reminded me a lot of an old HP 618 remote that I had...it works as well and is tiny!! The only thing I ever use the remote for anyways is extended exposure...at the moment.

Have this one as well, got one for a buddy too. Works perfectly and works every time. I've used it at about 25-30 feet with no problems. If you have a AF lens, it will also focus for you before it snaps the picture...

I have this remote that I bought recently. It doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to change the code or something? My remote didn't come with any directions.
