How to use Metz 58 wierless?

Hi

I bought the Metz 58-af1 fore my GX-10, but I cant get it to fire wireless.

Only one way, I got it to fire wireless, and that is if the Metz sees the ir transmitter on the gx-10, and than as slave.

I thought I could set the Metz 58 on the table, and than select wireless, on camra and flash, and move around like I wanted with the camra, and the flash would fire...

As I can se now, I need to have the camra flash on, and the metz flash need to see the camras IR transmitter?

Have only tried fore ca 15min on this, and I have read the manuals fore camra and flash.

Any one know how to do this?

I too have the Metz 58. It is not "wireless" in the sense of utilizing radio channels, but rather it watches for the on camera flash to do it's business. I was a bit disappointed that the Metz almost has to be pointed slightly at the camera to work..talk about lens flare.

I asked this same question a couple of weeks ago see this thread for more details but it looks like you have at least got it to work off camera.

I think you need to set the on camera flash as the "controller" to do what you want.

You don't necessarily need the flash pointed at the camera as long as the small receiver on the left "shoulder" of the Metz unit can see the flash you should be ok - don't forget you can swivel the flash around so that the left shoulder is facing the camera but the flash is aimed at your subject.
