Dual 540fgz - *NON*wireless ttl

so I understand that if I have 2 540FGZs I can use one on camera and one off-camera to get wireless p-ttl with the k100d. 2 questions:

1) in this setup (one on-camera and one off camera) can the on camera flash contribute to the exposure as well, or is it just a "dummy" to fire the off-camera flash

2)apparently, the pentax F5PL ttl extension cord will connect directly to the 540FGZ without a hotshoe adaptor. If I want to do non-wireless TTL with the pair of flashes (one on, one off camera) can I just use the cord and plug them together directly, or do they still require the hotshoe adaptor? (adaptor F I believe)

I may be misreading my manual, but if you don't want the "on-board" 540 to contribute to exposure, why not just use the popup flash as a controller ?

You cannot do that with K100D; only K10D with firmware v1.10+ can do that.

You can do both. In "Master" mode ("M" in the M/C/S switch), the flash would contribute to the exposure. In "Controller" mode, it will not.

You need a hotshoe adapter (FG if you want to use the built-in flash at the same time) to connect to the camera, and from that you can use a F5P cord to connect directly into your 540FGZ. But if you want to use a cord to connect BOTH flash, you need to daisy chain the flashes; in that case, you need at least one hot shoe adapter to connect to one of the flash in order to daisy chain the cord; and you need two F5P cords.
