Double Spit 45 degree focusing screen

I know, another screen thread.
Has anyone ever used a double split screen? I like the sounds of it if it works they way I conceptualize it. I can't think of a camera that I have ever seen equipped with one or had this as an option. I'm wondering if this is a POS. I am leaning towards a Li-80 for macro with my K20d and a split-image for my K200d. The double split intrigues me.

I have not used one yet, but am as intrigued as you are. Please report back if you use one or learn any more--thanks. BTW, I have seen other screens which offer both a 45 degree split & a horizontal all in one screen.

I'll keep you posted Jewelltrail. I leaning towards trying one in my K200d since I use the D20d more often for macro.

I have a horizontal split on my k200D and it's still hard to focus on low contrast areas, like people's faces. With the small viewfinder of the k200, it's nearly impossible to acurately judge focus in dim light of, say, someone's eye even with the split screen and microprisms.

I still do not know of anyone who has tried a double split screen. In concept, I can see it being better than a single split. However, screen quality could be an issue with this particular screen.

It used to be that the choice was Jinfinance or Katzeye. Now, the number of these after-market screens seems to have exploded. There seem to be 8 different sellers on Ebay, alone. There are also screens offered on other sites, as well as the high-end Katzeye.

I don't know how many of these are the same product. It would be nice if someone with time and money on their hands would do a review of these. Putting the Katzeye into the mix would be the killer, since it costs as much as buying one of each of the competitors.

This one is definitely different since it has the double split like \\ but I don't know about the quality of it.

I went ahead and ordered a few different ones, and I believe that was one of them. For $20-30, it will be fun to try.

I'm not sure how much stock to put in the photos. In some cases, the verbal descriptions seem different from what is pictured.

Any review on the dual split screens yet? I'm anxious to buy one if it fits the K20D properly. I had one from Jinfinance for my Samsung GX-1L which worked out well. Curious if these work well without shims.

Hello there! This is my first post on this forum...
First I want to excuse for my English.

I have a question:
Which one of the following focusing screens you recommended to buy ?

this with 45 degree
Dual 45° Split image Focus Screen for PENTAX K10D K20D - eBay (item 330351255675 end time Sep-09-09 03:06:00 PDT)

or this with 90 degree
Split image Focus Screen for Pentax K20D K10D *ist D DS - eBay (item 250448406729 end time Jul-15-09 02:46:57 PDT)

Which one more useful in work with K20D + A70-210/4

I want to decide as soon as possible... So please help me.

Maybe in future I buy some Takumar or CZ, so focusing screen would be good additional for me... But Katzeye I cant buy 'cous its cost too much.

Thanks.

I can't answer which is the best. If I were to buy one for my K200d, I would go with the double diagonal. I don't know of only 2 people that have one. The person in this thread actually got it from Jinfinance at ebay.

I bought this exact screen for my K200 and it has really helped my focus accuracy. I like the twin diagonal but the screen also has a Fresnel ring around the split screen which helps even more.

I can't wait for this screen to show up for the K-7!

I LOVE THIS SCREEN! I have never had one on my K10D because I had a Katzeye. I first saw this screen in an old Practica (late 60's or early70's) I believe. It was a dream to focus through. I thought at the time, gee why not put this into a new camera. Now, instead of jumping on the katzeye I'll see if I can wait for this one.....
