Strobist Bootcamp II

Anyone else here involved with the Strobist Bootcamp II? I made an attempt but clearly will have to step it up several notches. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the winner of the first assignment used a Pentax K10D with FA 50/1.4!!! You should check it out. It is on Flickr in the Strobist group.

I'm in it as well, it's a new skill set for me, thought it would be a good chance to learn!
I saw the winner's shot but I hadn't checked the camera info, very interesting!

Tim: Good to see a fellow member working with strobist. I really want to get better with the off camera flash. BTW I went to your site. Really nice stuff. I love the snowflakes. Do you use a microscope? Take the pics in the freezer? We don't get much of that white stuff down here!

Mark,
I'm with you regarding off camera flash!

thanks for the kind words about my site, I'm in the middle of re-doing the way it's organized, I'm
glad you found your way around a little bit.

I learned pretty much all of my off-camera lighting techniques from Strobist. The internet is so awesome when used for good...

Thanks for the link. Again great work. I used to live up in Indiana but never took the time to actually look at snowflakes that close. Pretty cool.

Krypticide: I agree. I used to use the internet for evil but now only good. I visited your sites. great work, man. The modeling gig -all I can say is wow! Oh, if I were young and single. Living out in California doesn't hurt in finding beautiful models to practice the strobist way.

I played...we needed some staff photos for our website, so it was an easy sell. I didn't know that the winner was using Pentax gear either. Very encouraging.

Thanks. Fun to see a thread about it here. I can still hardly believe I won, but the speedight pro kit is on its way

I'm really loving that combo, the K10D with the 50mm.

Shows that for realistic purposes, Pentax is at least as good as any other brand, and that mister DH doesn't care about the label on your camera, but about the results

Some great photos on the sites posted above here, very nice.

Tom

Tom, congratulations on your win, nice image! I thought of using my M50/1.7 but I was not
confident in my friend's ability to focus.

I agree that DH is not concerned with the tools but only the results!
