Me too.....I ordered the grip which came at he same time.....which has an adapter to take double As......but I much prefer the normal batteries. My guess is a few more weeks.

I was able to pick up 3 spares from my local camera store last week, and I didn't clean them out. My guess is that there are a lot of places that are replacing "not on order" with "backorder" until they get what they feel is enough demand from customers to place an order.
Fortunately, my local store keeps Pentax equipment in stock as a normal part of doing business.

i am starting to wonder if Pentax brought such a great battery with the K7 that it's users would not need a back up battery

If you have 2, you drain one (which they seem to last a very long time), and you can quickly pop in a new one. You're never out of juice and you never try to charge the battery before it's empty, screwing up it's memory (less of an issue today, but it's still an issue)

Received a call today that mine is here

Lithium batteries are different.
It becomes faster damaged by long recharging cycles, rather than short cycles.

but what is Pentax story on these batteries
you design a fine camera,
you ship it with a useless strap
and you have no back up battery to sell
i always said and stand firmly by it
PENTAX MARKETING DIVISION SUCKS
they really dont no the difference between their as-hole from their elbow

They have only one power outlet so it's taking a while to charge them.

looks like they are the old type, that has to be full discharged, before recharging, and they are still in the discharge stage
i dont know why Pentax did not do us a favour and allowed us to reuse the same battery and grip on the K7
but they change the design and then cannot come up with the supply demand

I had more problem getting spare batteries for my K10 than for my K-7. I think it took three months to get my first spare and then another couple of months before my last two came in.
The K-7 batteries took a couple of weeks.
I really think your dealers are just not ordering them and are telling you they are on B/O rather than the truth.

You are presuming it is a Pentax problem. The batteries are out there in the wild. I bought three from my local store a couple of weeks ago, and didn't come close to buying them out.
Consider the possibility that whoever Amazon is dealing with as a reseller is flaky and try a different seller.

that would have been nice, unfortunately Amazon and BH photo both say on back order , and they are the only two that would accept international credit cards, even though these cards that we hold is either MC or Visa, and backed by U.S.A Banks
so my buying options are limited to just those two
i tried Adorama, but the only info i could not have given them is the length of my colon
