K20d and Pentax remote?

I grabbed a Pentax Remote control F (actually 2, it was a bargain on slickdeals I think)

SO I turned on my new k20d, and clicked the remote. Nothing. So I tried the other one. Nothing.

Does it not work with the K20d? Is there a setting I need to change? Is there a max/min distance? Can I really have TWO remotes that don't work?

Thanks!

Try FN, then push UP, then select the remote on the right. I think.

You have to set it for there are too many remote around that can trigger it (Samsung TV and DVD player for sure from personal experience)

Aha! I think that if you have these, you won't need to buy the regular Pentax remote!
Yes, there is a setting as others might try to mess with your camera (if they too had a remote) if you need not turn the remote receptivity "on".

Very much like the bluetooth device on cellphones that you can't just access anybody's phone even if you have bluetooth too.
They have to accept the device or the device has to be "paired" for it to work.

Perhaps, but my TV remote, DVD remote, Satellite remote ... just won't fit in the little slot in my camera's vertical grip the way the Remote F does.

Good point.
btw, did you notice that the LED of the remote control will be seen by the camera sensor?

This is actually how I tested remotes before whether it be a tv or vcr or whatever.
If the batteries are dead or the intended target machine to control is not just reading it.
I would usually point the suspect remote towards my camphone (with camera function "on") and see if the light in front of the remote lights up when i press the remote 'coz by just using your naked eye, the IR on the LED won't be visible but by using the camera on your phone, you can see the IR light up.
For those of you who don't know this, you can try it if you have a camera phone or a P&S camera for that matter.
..in a DSLR, you have to take the photo to see it or if it has the liveview, you have to use that.
