540FGZ and flash bracket

Want to cable the 540FGZ mounted on a flash bracket to a K20D. The Pentax hot shoe adapter FG has the 5pin connector exit on the top and the F5P cable connected would add more vertical. I must be missing something here, but it looks like the hot shoe adapter on the K20D and the cable would be 3 inches sticking up from the camera's hot shoe. The 540 has the 5 pin female plug so don't need anything on that end.

I'm thinking there must be a better way to connect these?
Thanks

Go to FleaBay and do a search on "Pentax flash cord," you'll find plenty of listings.
