trailing curtain sync with manual flash + k20d

I have this manual-only type flash and I can't get it to do rear-sync with the K20D... I select the menu option yet it always fires on the opening of the shutter. However if I use the pop-up flash it works as I expect. Is there a way to get the manual flash to do rear-sync or only "proper" flashes achieve that?

Hah, I was about to post the exact same topic; I googled for an answer and this thread popped up!

I too would like to be able to do this, but it always fires the flash at the start and end instead of only at the end. It seems to default to P-TTL when you select trailing curtain which always flashes at the start of the shot for the metering.

I have the 360 FGZ.

A manual flash without the feature will clearly not offer rear-curtain sync. This is a flash unit limitation, not a camera body limitation.

The 360 flash has the feature and will be able to function using a lens that can communicate exposure details with the camera. Ensure no 'green modes' are selected - including the matrix metering (green) setting and the camera's green mode. This enables the flash to use other (non-green) functions.

I am using sigma EF 530 super, 2 pcs, but also radio slaves. The sigmas have trailing curtain sync. I can also use the second one as slave, also trailing curtain. Problem arises when I use manual lenses, or with radio trigger. Radio trigger always trigg first curtain, regardless the setting.
