I have a subject that ALWAYS got caught with a half-blink when being photographed using the on-board flash (P-TTL). I used to have to try no-flash slow shutter shots instead

.
I now have a Metz 48 AF-1. In my initial trials it appears to have solved that problem. Maybe the 2 flashes are closer together, not giving time to blink? Maybe the pre-flash isn't so bright? Don't know, don't care, I just know it has helped.
However for some reason the flash doesn't zoom to 70mm when I have my Sigma 17-70 attached and at 70mm. I think it does have a 70mm (105mm equiv) step. I'll check my exif to see if it's recorded as 70mm, pretty sure it does though.
