Metz 48 P-TTL wireless display

If I have the Metz 48 on camera, then set the camera to wireless, taking off the Metz, the display reads P TTL. If I switch the Metz off, then on again, the display reads TTL, without the preceding P. It's still P-TTL though isn't it, even though it doesn't show the P any more?

I have been playing with my new 48 for a week or so. It has to be attached to show the "P" but I am pretty sure it still uses P-TTL for the flash. I tested it by adjusting the flash EV by -2 (in camera via FN button) and noticed the flash power was reduced...Hardly scientific, but It lead me to believe it was communicating.
