New flash for my K10

Hi there everyone ,

I was hesitating between a Pentax 360 or a Sigma 500 super and now i am convinced to go for the Pentax 540.

Ok it`s much more expensive but i need the power , the Sigma has it but i`m afraid of it`s compatibility with my K10 , i mean it`s easier garantee wise that the accessories are of the same make.
Another point about the Sigma is all those reports i read about it`s bad build quality.

The 360 doesn`t look powerfull enough , might as well use the build in flash and the top doesn`t swirve (important for portrait photography).

Might as well buy the best and keep it forever.

Hi,

I think you are wise.
I have been using mine 540 last weekend on shooting outdoors.
Had a Sto-Fen on it and did an exelent job. With a diffuser you really want that extra power.
Build quality I hope you are right I heard so many complaining about their problems of not zooming any more with their 540 that I hope that mine keeps on going.
That is the only complain I have about the 540 it is making a lot of noise!

But the combination of my K10 and the 540 is working GREAT!

One additional benefit of the 540 is the availability of an external battery pack The Pentax TR Power Pack III for the AF-540FGZ. This powerpack runs on "C" size batteries and will power the 540 for up to 700 shots.

The Pentax TR Power Pack III is a cool option, but for $150 I can buy a boat load of NiMh rechargable batteries.
