Photography in Las Cruces, New Mexico

I'm going to be traveling to Las Cruces, New Mexico on business. I'll probable only have one day for play and plan on taking pictures. I'm looking for suggestion from anyone who lives there or has been there on where to go. Primarily interested in nature and scenic but I'm open to any ideas.

Two words: White Sands

It's near Alamogordo, approximately 40 miles northeast of Las Cruces.

I agree, White Sands first. Then La Mesilla or Old Mesilla as the locals call it. Lovely plaza and some old adobe buildings. Try La Posta restaurant if you have a chance.
