So you are that guy. I had also sent my interest (along with 1.7x TC) but by then it was gone.

Hi guys,

Some of us Indian Pentaxians have often felt the need for a Pentax long lens. I've posted a thread in this regard. If you are interested in this topic, please have a look at it and participate in it here: When will we get a REAL Pentax wildlife lens?

Regards,
Aditya

Good thread Aditya. A good long fast lens is much required
Forgot to add, not costing a fortune though.

Thanks Siva, but your statement is self contradictory- there is no such thing as a "good, long, fast lens which also doesn't cost a fortune"! But a 500mm f/4 seems to be the best compromise. Pentax can afford to make an even cheaper 500mm f/4 since, unlike Canikon, (a) it will not require any built in image stabilisation mechanism (b) it will be smaller and lighter since it will be a DA Star with an APS-C sized image circle.

Cheers,
Adi

I can dream, can't I
What you said is correct? If not much lesser than Canikon's at least give Pentax glasses at the same price as them. That would definitely keep us in the Pentax camp

Dream on my friend!

Here's a discussion on the official Pentax group on Facebook. Do read the reply by Pentax and another one where a 500/600 is reported to be under testing.

Will we see a 'real' Pentax wildlife lens anytime soon? | Facebook

Cheers,
Aditya
