As far as I know, the merge with Hoya will only be beneficial for Pentax, since Hoya used to provide their glass.

With Pentax's long history, I doubt anything will be changing.

Sorry no new info from me.
I read that thread on the dark side also and was most entertained by the interpretations of doom from the garbled babelfish translations etc

From what I can gather the CEO of hoya has stated that "IF" (the doomsayers gloss over this "IF" part) - If Pentax imaging division were to make a loss then they would sell it off.

But no context of what pre empted this or how it was said are given but I would guess that he has been questioned by the media because of Hoyas fallling share price.

To be honest it sounds like a remark any CEO would make in that kind of market climate and HoyaPentax is no different from any other company around the world - if it aint making money you offload it - at least that's what you tell the shareholders, the reality is often different.

I'll still plug along with my *istDS and if the world does come to an end I'll by a cheap K10D on ebay (from a pseudo pro photographer who has to be part of a winning company) pick up a 77Ltd lens from the mountain of discarded Pentax glass and just be happy.

Second, thanks both for your replies, very sensible and calming. And yes, my DS is also working great, I have a new lens on the way, I love photography and that's all that matters right now.
