Help with photo sizing, please.

I have received a request from a magazine to publish one of my photos. They have asked I submit:

JPG – compressed High Resolution 300 DPI, RGB, size 8 x 10

When I size the photo in Photoshop with those specs, I get a monstrous file that even at 33% fills my 20" monitor.

What am I doing wrong? What exactly are they asking for?

All help appreciated.

Best guess: 2400 by 3000 pixels, sRGB colorspace, highest quality JPEG.

Your monitor is probably around 80 pixels per inch; this file at 100% would then measure 30 inches by 37.5 inches--7-9 screen fulls; that 33% thing.

I would do what JFDavis says, but would double check if they want sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998

what size in MB does it end up being?
If you have done any PP like cloning, it is a good practice to take a close look at the whole photo as every little thing tends to show up at sizes 8x10 and bigger.

good luck with it
can you post which photo it is?

cheers
