Need an option in the poll for mostly or sort of. I carry a body and lens with me a lot, but not every time I leave the house to grab a gallon of milk so to speak. I probably should keep my N***n P2 in the console or glove box but don't know how healthy that is for a camera's electronics to be left "in the elements" like that all the time.

I leave my kit at home whenever I want to miss a spectacular photo.
Or atleast it appears that way.

I have it close at hand 92.8% of the time.

My gear is with me 98% of the time. I sometimes think I carry way to much.
K10D, 18-250, 10-20, 28-75, 31, 50 and the AF-360-fgz. You never know what you may need, so it's better to have to much then not enough.

I don't bring my gear to work because I work in an office....not too exciting to take pics of, nor do I take it when getting groceries, or going to the bank.

If I heading to someone's house, travelling more than 15 minutes in the car, or with the family it is always with us. We take it all with us as my wife and I both like to shoot...so we each have a body and share the lenses in the bag.

The only pain in the butt about always having the camera with you is that whenever other people are around they always want a copy of the shots....and we may not plan to pp the picks for a month or so (in between shoots for our business). Sometimes that's a bit annoying...

Glad we always have it with us though....never know when the urge is gonna strike!

Yeah, my regular kit fits in an old canon backpack, usually with enough room to include lunch for the day.

Today I've got the K100D, kit lens, Soligor 300mm 4.5, Sears 135mm, m50 1.7, Sigma 70-300 DL, Supertak 35mm 3.5, Spiratone 20mm 2.8, Spiratone auto-macro converter and miscellaneous stuff (filters, batteries, etc.). I don't normally carry around the Soligor 300, it's pretty bulky (and taking up my "lunch" room at the moment).

I don't, and never will.

Simple list:
--The bag weighs ~15lbs fully loaded. Even just the K10 and A 24/50 weigh quite a bit to carry around. And I have 3 film bodies.
--If I see a shot, I'll say "I wish I had the Zenitar/macro/80-320/etc right now" if I had just one lens with me.
--Interior of the car has nothing outside the glovebox/center console, and my trunk leaks.
--Stuff slides around the trunk except for the stereo.
--Said stereo is worth ~$1000 so I have enough money in the car as it is.

So yeah, I like to travel light. Wallet, keys, phone.

Are you still looking for the perfect bag? Such a woman!
I finally got a 6 Million Dollar home for everyday and it's great. Now if only I could remember to take it with me.

I just picked up the 5million because all i want to walk around with is a body with vertical grip and 2 zooms, and the bag holds just that with emergency room.

@ Venturi, you are right i missed that option as my frame of mind was, "i wonder if these guys/gals walk with gear as a daily routine", my mail man does i won't mention the brand lol

I am quite surprised though at how many of you actually do make it a daily routine and here i was whining about how cumbersome it's going to be to walk with camera/grip plus 2 zooms in a bag LOL. Now the replies have made me even more motived to walking with good gear not just a P&S as i do enjoy taking above average photos.

Daily Gear

I keep an Oly E20n in the truck and an Oly XA (compact film) camera, loaded with BW400CN, in my briefcase, but my main stuff comes out on a planned, recreational basis. I don't personally own a P&S, but everyone else in my family does (Fuji, Nikon, HP or Kodak).

I've usually always got a K10, normal zoom, wide angle, and telephoto lens with me.

ive thought about it but havent yet - is it safe to leave your equipment in the car during the summer time, it can get pretty toasty in a car that sits in a parking lot all day while your working.

Not everywhere, and not all the time (e.g. I don't take my camera to work, or when going shopping). But when I go out "socially" then yes, the camera bag is always with me. My basic "I don't know what I'm going to shoot" kit is:

K10D
Sigma 17-70
Pentax DA 50-200
Pentax FA 35
Sigma EF-500 DG SUPER flash
+ assorted odds & ends (microfiber cloth, blower, etc).

I don't and a couple of weeks ago, it cost me. We had been at a church function and were heading home in a very heavy thunderstorm. After the storm passed, we were stopped for a couple of minutes and there was this beautiful, bright rainbow with the remnants of the thunderstorm off in the distance seen through it. So here's a rainbow framing a storm with almost constant lightening. Four blocks and two minutes later at home with access to my camera and it was all gone!
