To buy or not to buy

I am in the market for a K10d, someone in L.A. has a k10d for sale for $750 w/ 18-55 Pentax lens & a Tamron 28-300mm and an extra battery. Is it worth it? Ritz has the body only for sale for $650. I believe the used camera has a littler over 5k actuations.

New to this forum, thanks for your input.

If the glass (both lenses) is clean (no internal dust or fungi) and the camera is in good shape (also check for dust in sensor doing a few blank pics), the price sounds very good.

The Tamron 28-300 IMHO is a fair overall lens. To my taste, I'e never liked extreme zoom lenses but that is my personal opinion.

Go ahead, take the plunge.

btw... Ritz (Wolf) has never been a good reference for pricing. They are quite expensive in Pentax stuff.

I have sold my K10D (<1500 clicks) for $500 all inclusive and my 18-55 for $50 plus shipping - so it gives you an idea about prices at the moment - take a look @ marketplace section... battery is like $10 (NP400 from Minolta) - so the question
is - do you need that Tamron 28-300 for $200 ?

Seems a tad high to me, but not exhorbitant. I had the Tamron 28-300 and loved it (though not as much as the 18-250 I replaced it with).

You'll spend a bunch more money on lenses anyway, so don't worry about the "entry fee".

he probably should be better off w/ Tamron 18-250 instead of 18-55 Mk1 and 28-300... even if it means paying more ($100-150 ?) as a result.

I have sold 28-200mm superzoom (Sigma I believe) for $150 with Pentax 35mm AF body here on the forum a while back. So $750 for the package is a bit high in my opinion. Of course if you can talk the seller down and inspect the camera in person, that might be an advantage.

it all depends on the quality of 28-300, but somehow I think it is not worth to have it for $200... if you want that kind of zoom - Tamron/Pentax 18-250 is the one to have.

At one time new K10Ds were $500. Kit lens, eh. The 28-300, maybe, but you'll still (probably) want something wide, so...I would pass at that price.
