Pentax rebate taking a long time

How soon after you submitted your rebate did you get your check ?

I bought my K200D on 5/29 from Amazon. I mailed my rebate submission on 6/3 . Today is 8/13, and I don't have my rebate check yet. That's 71 days after my submission, or 10 weeks. I checked pentaximaging.rebatestatus.com and my rebate is still being processed. I find that delay unacceptable. I also believe that it violates California law, which requires rebate checks to be issued within 60 days of rebate submission.

Only 71 days? Be patient, it will arrive.

On a related note, I have dealt with Sony and HP for several rebates in the past and remember them taking more than 6 months in most cases.

I've heard from other sources that the company that handles Pentax USA rebates is not in the business of handing out money.

I had to call about 3 times to get my rebates straightened out... 2 of the people were very helpful, one was far less than helpful, ended up just hanging up on them. Anways, they got me my rebates after several months... I just had to provide a minimal amount of information to them... irritating, you'd hope it would just work instead... but after a few calls i got mine. let it be said, the first time i called, they told me they didn't have any record of either of my rebates (one for the lens and one for the body).

That's much longer than any of my 5-6 Pentax rebates took. I'd call them up and find out what's going on. You did keep copies of everything and keep proof of mailing, right? Sounds like you're going to need it.

I've been waiting since September 2007. I'll probably get my long lost hair back before I get my rebate.

I received an email from Pentax about a month ago telling me my check should be mailed sometime next week. We'll see.

I'm glad that I read this thread. I just checked with the rebate center on-line and by telephone and found that they had no record of my submission for a $100 K20 rebate. The mailing address was in Phoenix. I live in Phoenix. I might as well have mailed it to Timbuctu. Now I have to start over by faxing the documents. I had to wait 20 minutes to talk to a live person but they were very helpful and courteous and they assurerd me the rebate would be processed.

I would suggest that if you think your rebate is taking too long, chek on-line to see if they have a record of your submission. If, then call.

I was very lucky I guess, my rebates on my K10D and grip took less than two months to get back to me.

no, it is a normal situation... I never missed any rebates in 10 years... I always follow 2 very simple rules : no handwriting (always use Adobe Acrobat to complete the forms and the same goes for the address on the envelope) + attach the barcode to the form w/ scotch tape.

Ah, this is where I made my mistake. I stapled the barcode to the form.

you know how people can be irritated trying to unstaple your stapled barcode ... that is why 4 tiny scotch tape strips (one for each corner) are better

I taped the Barcode but that is ok, I took pics and made copies of everything.

Edit: I've been known to set up "Fax Brigades" when someone has claimed to not get something from me. It has gotten good results in the past.
