Question Famous photographers using Pentax

I am not sure if such topic wasn't discussed before, but I can't find it.

Could you please post names of the famous photographers using Pentax cameras (digital or film)?

ATB,

Pusiek

The only one I know is Benjamin Kanarek, who also posts here on the forum.

Even if there was nobody, I don't need a leading figure to know I've made the right decision with my gear.

One of the major British fashion photographers who achieved fame during the 1960s was Terrence Donovan (Terence Donovan Archive), now sadly deceased. He used the Pentax 67 extensively later in his career. If you browse his website you will find a thumbnail portrait of him holding one.

Medium format is the area where you will find the most hits on this question.

If anyone asks me about famous photographs, I could remember only 2 or 3, without even knowing which camera they are using
But I noticed some older Japanese man today in Dubrovnik, shooting with pentax K10D, and it made me smile (in a good way) that somebody with, I'm sure, a lot of eperience in photography, is using same camera as me, especially when coming from Japan, homeplace of today SLRs

Can't remember his name (and can't risk looking him up here at work at the risk of bringing up verboten nekkid photos) but the guy who shoots those massive "nude in public" scenes shoots with a Pentax 67... Anyone remember his name? OK, so in that case maybe he isn't "famous" but he is "acclaimed"...

Steven Meisel is (was) pretty famous. Uses a 6x7. Pentax Medium format, especialy the 6x7 was a mainstay camera for NYC advertising photographers.

Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindberg, Steven Meisel, Helmut Newton and Arthur Elgort all used the 67 Pentax as I did.

In fact most of the guys in Fashion Advertising used the 67 or the Mamiya 67.

There are tons. Unfortunately Pentax lost most to the Digital back crowd on Blad's and the DSLR's of Canon.

I am asking not because I have doubts after choosing Pentax. Obviously as long as your camera and lenses aren't really bad you can still produce a piece of art (maybe just not that often and with more effort). I was just curious. Especially about DSLR, as Pentax apparently doesn't have an offer for professionals (or at least k20d is grouped as semi-pro camera). Although I believe that If Cartier-Bresson took k200d or k20d (+ proper lens) he would be able do some nice work with them.

Answering one of the questions - I am asking about present and past photographers.

I guess the thing about Pentax that bugs me the most is why after the LX the just dropped the pro camera market. Had all of these great lenses and no pro bodies to go with them. nikon and canon both upgraded their old pro camera and kept on upgrading---Pentax just dropped off to low end cameras and serious amateur cameras. I hope we see a change of thinking at photokina next month.
