Question K100DS Firmware

I read somewhere on this forum before that pentax was going to release a firmware for K100D Super..... Does that still hold true? If yes, any idea when it will be released?
Thanks

A "firmware" is a change in the camera's program. You can check Pentax.ca to see if any are available for your camera (depending on your internet service provider, Pentax USA may or may not work in Canada). It also explains how to download the firmware into the camera using a freshly formatted SD/SDHC card.

There's probably an actual definition of it, but the basic idea is the camera's operating system. It's important because it can be changed by the manufacturers, possibly even adding new features.

My camera, the *ist-DS, got a huge boost from a firmware upgrade. The upgraded firmware added support for SDHC cards, AF-C and Auto ISO. Some useful upgrades there. Upgrades can be boring too, just adding menus in different languages.
