Its here, its here!!!

Fedex brought my new K20 today. I got my 360fgz Friday and my SMC F 50mm F1.7 and Tamron 28-200 from KEH on Thursday. I have not had a lot of time to play with the camera, but am very happy so far! Made sure to take something relevant for my first pic! Will post later. Thanks to all the posters on here for making the decision easier with the massively informative posts. Glad I can use some of my "old" pentax gear again!

Well, after a couple days with the K20, I can say I am extremely pleased with the camera. The camera has, for me anyway, the prefect set up. The features I want/need on the body and not in menus are there, the one feature I would like on the body can be easily programmed (ISO) to a button, but the FN button makes it so easy to access that its not a big deal. Its a much more intuitive setup (again, for me) than the Canon 40D was. I will say that I need some new glass. The Sigma 28-200 really shows its flaws at the resolution the K20 produces. Ah well, no more expenditures untill after the holidays!

I went our for what a photo stroll yesterday and left the aforementioned Sigma lens on the whole time. Should have just went with the kit lens or the SMC F 50 I have. Ah well. Live and learn...

Scottie,
Is the 28-200 a Sigma or Tamron? You said that it was a Tamron earlier. I just picked up a Vivitar 28-210 real cheap off feabay and was wondering how they compare. Mine seems to be exceptable with my K100DS so far.

Congrats Scottie. It's a great camera. It will show the limits of a 'superzoom' for sure. Maybe that one will be used for vacations and light travel shooting.

Its actually a Sigma, I debated between the two and ended up going with the Sigma, I misstated earlier. The "lower end" lenses I used with my K100 always produced acceptable pictures. I am not sure if this Sigma is bad, I have a bad copy, the K20 really does resolve enough detail to show the flaws, or a combination thereof. The sigma did seem to do okay at the wider end, just not too well on the zoom side....

congrats, scottie!

i'm sure you'll have a great experience with your camera! i love mine! and it works great with legacy lenses... so i'm sure you can still buy GREAT OLD lenses... in case you're not happy with your current setup...

Regards from the north,
Ed
