I was reviewing my current camera gear (not counting the two lenses donated to my daughter and the K10D) and to be truthfull was taken by surprise. I initally started this as to get a quote on insurance (which will only cover the standard lost or stolen kinda thing).
I only started the DSLR world a little more than 3 years ago and well I was very surpised when I totaled it up wow.
I am not sure there was already a poll for this at one time but if so you can delelte this thread. I won't post names of the innocent or quilty just be curious what others have spent,
Don't include hard dirves or computers this is meant soley for glass and camera's , flashes and if you want accesscories (Tripods, filters, batteries, lightening gear, etc).
Dave, you didn't say what category you fell into. I figure I'm just over the $1000, but probably not much higher. Joys of buying used cameras and glass.
I am in the $5,001 - $10,000 catagory and would not have guessed that if you had asked me but if I stop and think about it yeah it's pretty easy to see when the bodies and some lenses are $1k each .... and I have bought used ones as well There are more lenses I want which could bump me into the last catagory but I may sell some to kinda keep even (or maybe not who knows ).
I could answer this a few different ways.
1) $0.00 as I've made far more with my gear than it cost me.
2) the plus $10,000 catagory if I needed to replace it all. 3) just under $10,000 for what I spent (subtracting the money or selling gear that didn't suit my needs) a lot of the gear is used and good bargains*.
*Remember the days when you could find the lens you wanted in a mixed lot, break up the stuff you bought in that auction and sell the stuff you didn't need to nearly cover your costs? Sadly those deals are long gone. I 'ticked' this one in the poll.
Getting the gear for good prices means that the replacement value is considerably more than what I spent also... but it has been an expensive venture no doubt...
The DA* and FA ltd lenses certainly boost the figure up very quickly...
Hmm...category 1 I believe, without actually going back through all the receipts (I might barely edge into category 2 but I doubt it). Of course, other than the K100D body and kit lens, everything I have is used (and almost all manual) from the cheap bins at Goodwill and KEH, so I've got that going for me.

No doubt - but making money does not count (would be another poll though)....you are in the last catagory Peter as this was replacement cost (even indicated in the poll) - I am not far from just entering that catagory ...on the upper edge of the catagory 3 for sure....
