WHile the prices have gone up and boy have they you can still find a deal if you do your homework. I have lucked out and picked up a couple things of ebay but my best luck has been on the marketplace. You have to watch it and react quickly if you see something but you can get a deal.....

Over hear I can pick up a D700 with 1000 actuations for R4000 more than a brand new K7 - the 50mm 1.4 for R 2000 a 24mm 2.8 for R 2500 and so on and so on

A Canon 1ds mk11 with 50000 actuations for the same plus a huge range of prime 2nd hand lenses.

The brand new 7D over here is marketed slightly cheaper than the K7

The 50D can be had for just a little more than the K20D.

With more volume to sell Nikon & Canon can be more aggressive with regards to pricing which Pentax just cannot compete with.

Canons 300 F4 L IS costs less than the Pentax 300mm the highly revered 400mm 5.6 L is less than the Pentax as well and these lenses can easily be picked up 2nd hand.

It's a no brainer that if you are a serious amateur/pro sports shooter that Canon is the winner hands down.

It has not come to this here in Canada(just yet), but if and when the day comes, that's when I'll quietly start gathering some M42 > Canon adapters

At about 1.5 times the price of the K-7 (in the US), I would expect the 7D to be significantly more camera.

In Australia

K7 is around $1,500 body only

7D is around $2,400 body only

D300s is the same price as th 7D and the K7 is almost the same price as the D90...

Man did I get lucky. I bought a DA35 last week for €400. Apparently it was the last one the store had in stock, because now - presumably after buying in new stock - the lens is priced at €520!

Kamera Express I presume? I bought the DA35 a few weeks ago and soon after that the price went up to 519 euro's. The DA* 16-50 went up from I believe 649 euro's when I bought it there to 869 euro's today; but they don't have it in stock anymore. Luckily I am done with lens buying for the foreseeable future!
