I'm not sure the exact model, but it's made in Japan and cost me about $60 new from the local shop. Lens was purchase without caps, so it will come with generics. I purchased this about a couple years ago from a local camera shop. Since you're here you probably already know about this lens. A solid performing zoom, very sharp when stopped down a bit but may not be as contrasty as others. Superb build quality (except for that zoom creep), and a fast one-touch zoom/focus that's quite nice once you get a feel for it. It hurts a bit parting with this guy; we've had some good times at the zoo, but I've decided I'm more of a wide-to-moderate shooter, and would be better off making room in my kit for something like the *50-135. Optics are excellent; there's some very small dust specs inside (those big flecks in the photo are on the lens surface), but nothing that affects image quality. The only cosmetic damage I can see (and caused me to downgrade from 'Excellent' to 'Good') is that the built-in lens hood seems to have been slightly dented at some point. You can see in the first picture that the upper left part seems to be a little flat; this doesn't affect the performance of the lens or the hood in any way (it extends, retracts, and 'clicks' home just fine).
