Hiya Leikey, thanks for responding. I am putting together a lightweight, manual-focus travel and mountaineering kit and the 35mm would be my standard-lens. To suit the way I prefer to work (hand-held, Aperture-priority shooting), I'm looking specifically for the A lens. Does your lens have the "A" setting?
Have you given the FA35 some thought? It's quite inexpensive, and the manual focus feel is actually really decent. Plus, it autofocuses if the need arises.

I'm not too keen to buy an AF lens, they usually have poor manual focus action and short focus travel. I might consider that option if the SMC (A) version does not turn up, but I can wait, I have the SMC (M) version of this lens already, sharp as a Tak at any aperture. The only thing that mitigates against it is the inability to use Aperture Priority, which is my preferred method of working handheld when sightseeing, sans tripod, with my wife. I am trying to re-create my method of working from the days of film, I guess. I have 24mm, 50mm and 100mm covered in (A) form already, and the 35mm would pretty much make the set. I keep seeing the 28mm (A) F/2, and am almost tempted to go for that instead, I suppose I could leave the 24mm at home if I had that. Time will tell.
I agree with you, prefering the A-series lenses to any other. I think they're the ideal balance between old-school manual focus feel and modern convenience. And the A35/2 is a little jewel. I would sell you mine, but I'd miss it too much. If I decide to sell mine any time soon I'll let you know; otherwise, good luck in your search.

Thanks for that, I just know there is one out there with my name on it, but in the meantime, I will carry on with the (M) version, which is also a little jem of a lens.
