The agency also upheld the AA rating on the company's outstanding bonds and the J-1+ rating on its commercial paper programme.
Hoya is a large manufacturer of optical glass.
Earnings from the company's electro-optics business, which has been its profit engine so far, fell sharply because of the global recession.
However, stable earnings from its eye-care business including eyeglass lenses and contact lenses have continued to bolster its overall earnings.
Its operating income for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2010 is expected to be at the same level as the previous fiscal year, a relatively higher level of earnings, as a result of structural reforms in its Pentax business which the company acquired.
Although its financial structure deteriorated because of the acquisition of Pentax Corp, its consolidated ratio of equity capital to total assets at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2009 was 62.3% and thus the ratio remains at a higher level.

JCR considers that its financial structure will continue to improve, taking into account that its recent capital investments did not exceed the amount of depreciation expenses and the company has maintained positive free cash flow and that profits for periods are expected to continue to accumulate.

Considering Pentax now has a array of colors with the K-x, although slow to come to the rest of the world, they could have a HUGE marketing potential.

While they may not be able to be an official sponsor a portion of the profits could go to youth Olympic programs as a possible way to get in on the action. Brand the camera with the Olympic rings. They would sell like crazy with approximately 2.3 million estimated to attend. This does include people like me willing to get one just for the fact alone it's Olympic swag and a part of history. Who said it has to be for pro's, most people visiting would mainly want a solid, reliable and easy to use entry level camera, more of a spontaneous purchase. Plus easy access to AA Lithium-Ion batteries which would most likely last for the duration of the games what more could you ask for.

With the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games right around the corner they, as in Pentax, could easily offer a color scheme based on the Olympic Rings or Vancouver Olympic colors:

Seems that they like it...but they mention a (severe?) battery issue (I have Pentax k-m, and almost always get between 800-1000 shots on a set of eneloop batteries). I got to thinking about how JVC has no still camera experience and how that might affect Pentax...


Then I realized that Hoya "an optical company" who has own Pentax for two years...
Has by most accounts produced two excellent cameras in the K7 and Kx, but has not designed and produced one lens. I believe every lense that has popped out in the last year or so was already on the roadmap, and in design for some time before Hoya got involved.

When the sale went thru, there was lots of concern that Hoya could produce lenses but would not be able to do much with the camera itself... but that turned out ass backwards...
