Smith-Victor Ballheads?

So I'm checking out Shutterbug March 2009 and found an ad for Smith-Victor carbon fibre tripods and Ball heads. Just wondering if anyone has heard of these before? Goodle turns up some, but mostly price-grabber type returns.

Just following your link, I notice that they supply a metal alloy ball head (BH8) with a 40lbs capacity for $79.95.

That to me seems very competitively priced and from the picture looks like it could do the job.

My thinking exactly. I have to hold up a Tamron SP 300/2.8 and my Manfrotto 486RC2 is begging for mercy
