Any bags that have a drying capabilities?

Just wondering if there is such a bag since some users don't have a cabinet to store lenses. And some just want to leave lenses in a bag but do not want the mold that comes from storing them too long.

I suppose you could throw a few silica gel packs in the bag & change them out periodically. I just store my lenses on open bookcase shelves.

But doesn't that get dust on the lens?

There is a hockey bag that has a fan/heater to dry out your hockey gear afterwards so I was wondering if there was such a thing in the market.

Lens cabinets. They're not very expensive. The silica gel packet idea is very inexpensive and will work fine so long as you keep your bag closed to limit the volume of air they have to dehydrate.

I use a big plastic tub and lid with a load of silica gell to dry and store my gear.

The important bit is the container has to be sealed for the silica to work properly.

A conventional bag not fully closed up actually does you OK in most climates: I'd be sure not to put it away damp, but I didn't have problems for years.

What I'm using now is just some filing cabinets with some Pelican-style dessicant packages, (legal sized width is nice for this, easier access) They aren't sealed up *tight* but the silica packs can handle it.

I have always been told to store the bag, loaded with camera's, OPEN in the same place you live in, not the bedroom because that one gets a lot of moister due to breath when sleeping...

i bought the comercial type silica gel from a drug store, they use it in their cupboards to cut down on moisture in the air, in the cupboard, of course. its a little expensive, but they are reusable. you just pop them in a conventional microwave for about a minute, and they turn blue, when saturated they turn completely white.life span is quite good, i have had them for over 12 years now, and they still work, i use 35mm film canisters and took an icepick and bored several holes in, an keep them in that so they stay more or less in one place.
