I really really hope you've gotten a block of rooms set aside for us wherever we are staying or this could get messy...

Has it even been narrowed down to a town? There's not much out there really. There's Cambridge to the north of the refuge, and Salisbury to the east, between Blackwater and Ocean City.

Maybe it would be cool to get a vacation rental, like a house, that could hold all of us. That would be fun. But I could see how it could also be a logistical nightmare and potentially cost some a lot more than others.

Quick Question, I have 3 places in the "budget" of $150/less night the cheepest is a Holiday Inn Express that I have stayed at before, Its about a 30-40min drive from Blackwater, but does put us closer for sunday's jaunt to the Beach. I should be able to get it for around $70/night and they have a real breakfast
Would anyone have a prob with the drive distance?
Best I can get in cambridge (about 10 min out) is around $125/night with conential breakfast.

Mel Good idea on the house, I have considered it but I just do not know how folks would react to it here. I was proposing that for Maine as its cheeper and we would be there longer. It would also be good if we were doing the Beach the entire time.

Brendan, I guess it all depends on the schedule - are we going to arrive at Blackwater at 6 AM? or maybe 8 AM? Are we doing anything in the evenings? Group discussion / photo critique?

Personally, if the HI Express is the one at Kent Island Narrows, then I would probably (depends on what's scheduled) stay at my sister's house just across the bridge and she and I would join y'all where ever. If the schedule is such that we have "group time", then I'd be all for the hotel in Cambridge.

Thanks again for all your work!!

I'm all for the first one and asap so I can get a reservation. I don't have a problems with the drive distance. Let me know if we need my 8-seater Expedtion again. Otherwise I'll bring the economical 5-seater (if one is really really skinny, otherwise 4) Scion.

I still think a house would be cool cuz it would be like a big ol' sleepover and we're a bunch of kids.

I'd rather be closer but for half the price I can stand driving. Like Chip says, the big factor is when we are going over on Saturday morning. Of course if we leave too early we would probably miss the HI breakfast anyway. Know its a lot to juggle and we do appreciate all the legwork you've done.

Mike

Btw... What is the planned agenda at this point?

I am awaiting final callbacks from the 2 places I have read the most positive about (one in delmarva 30min away, 1 in cambridge, 10 min away) It looks like most are ok with the 30min drive, if so t

Ok, tenative scheduel will be...
Friday (if anyone shows) We can shoot around the reffuage/sunset etc. I will figure a good place. We will prob do a M&G again, I will see if I can bring a grill to do some food again.
Sat. Sunrise! for anyone interested... I have never shot sunrise in the reserve so I cant say around there, but their are many places we can find water to shoot over
Breakfast (at hotel) Fig around 7am-ish (depends on sunrise, again I fig someplace close) than after breakfast off to the refuage for a day of shooting etc. (we can head into one of the towns to shoot for a bit mid-day too if you like) After I am trying to find a place for a group meal, than another slide-show of the days works back at the hotel
Sunday Sunrise??? Breakfast, checkout than off to OC for a day at the beach, dinner? (dutch treat at the beach) than home

DO Note: for Sunday, plan on atleast 2-3hr backup before hitting the bridge unless you leave early (before 12) or after 6/7pm

Transportation, Same as last year, Mel, If you can bring the Bus, I will again give you a discount in trade for the gas etc. that combined with my 4-5 passenger wagon should be enough, looks like we have about 6 so far not including spouses... Please start posting over on the full thread now as this was mainly about times etc.

If it was just me I'd go for closer rather than cheaper but the cost differential is pretty significant and I don't want anyone to be priced out.

I'll be driving my Subaru Forester: given my casual approach to automotive hygiene and bad habits, it's not ride for the fastidious but can take three passengers in reasonable comfort.

I'll be bringing the "Black Dragon" (SMC 1000mm f8), btw. I'll be happy to give anyone who's interested a chance to shoot with it (and I'm also looking to pick up some pointers ;~)
