Florida meetup

Seems there are a few folks here in the state of humidity. Anyone interested in a FLA meetup during the cooler month?

With flights cheap, I'd consider it but I'm all out of weekend furloughs for the foreseeable future.

If it's on one of my days off work, I'd be interested. What did you have in mind?

A few suggestions:

Sounds good to me if I get my motored wheels before you decide which day and when. Or perhaps I could get a sister who's interested in photography to take a trip with me.

Funny thought this thread was a dead issue. I would be thinking sometime during the cooler month. We could also ad Selby Gardens in Sarasota. That place is great and right on Sarasota Bay.

I'd be up for something like this. I'm down near the naples area, so Tampa and south would be cool by me.

If we met somewhere around Sarasota, I think a great choice would be the Ringling Museum. I've been there before, and it was super interesting. Lots of photo ops there. There's one whole building where there's an entire circus in miniature, art museum, their incredible home and beautiful grounds all in one place.
Circus Museums
Across the road is a car museum that has several old cars owned by the Beatles and lots of others too. Here's a link.

Here are a few shots from there.

Our cool month is 1 day long. Jan. 15th.

Seriously October isn't too bad. Let's see what weekend everyone is free. Who is a good organizer and has the time to set this up? I know I opened the thread but work and the baby makes it a bit dicey for me to organize. Any volunteers? Please.

I think I am pretty open to almost any weekend. If grandma won't sit I'll bring #4 with me.

So what's everyones availability?

How about Ding Darling NWR on Sanibel some time after Thanksgiving for Saturday / Sunday shootout. Will not go on a Friday as the refuge is closed on that day. I am game if that is the case or something similar - I do a lot of wildlife down here and can offer mulitple suggestions - Merrit Island, Delray wetlands, Gatorland up around Orlando etc.

BTW we have four seasons of summer here in Florida. We have spring and fall which are wonderful and winters where the Canadian winds blow in once for in a while for a 2 day chill between wonderful weather and then we have summer - not a very nice time of year. I go for a short walk and feel like I have been in a sauna for an hour if you get the drift.

Then there is Tallahassee. It gets cold enough at night on some years to just screw things up.

Tallahassee isn't Florida. It's southern Georgia

Not sure I'll be able to make it. My 12 hour shifts (night shifts) are a pain, and I'm working Friday and Saturndays right right now. Let me know what you folks come up with, and hopefully I'll be there. I'd really like to meet you all.
