Or Pen-girlians? In the spirit of all the workshops/gatherings that have been discussed, planned, bandied about, I had an idea. It seems that the majority of them have a male-centric slant to them. Not intentionally I'm sure but it just works out that way. So I had an idea. How about something just for us girls? Say perhaps a 3-4 day getaway, no guys allowed? Just the girls out shooting? I have an in on a place in Martha's Vineyard, walking distance to the beach, we could possibly use. It wouldn't be free as they have to pay the mortgage on it and we'd have to use it off-peak, say like early May or late September. It could hold 6 to 8 or so.
It wouldn't have to be limited to just Pentax-shooters as I know our ranks are pretty thin. Any interest?
I'm very much interested. Not that there's anything wrong with hanging out with the guys, but of all the photo groups I've been out with, I'm usually the only girl there (unless I bring a girl friend).
With due planning, I could quite possibly be in for May. I'll be in the States around that time anyway, and Martha's Vineyard isn't _that_ far away from Florida (at least not that far with airfarewatchdog on the prowl!).
So take this as a tentative yes from me. I hope that others chime in - I'm sure we all have quite a bit to contribute!
um. no. but if mrs. d.b. is interested in coming out and playing cameras she is most welcome. then she can give us all the REAL dirt on you
So, it's ok for you to be the only girl when a bunch of guys get together but it's not ok for me to be the only guy when a bunch of girls get together.
That's sexist that is.

we can get away with it because we're pretty.

comments like this and you guys wonder why we girls might like a weekend of shooting to ourselves once in a while?
Gentlemen, please let the ladies discuss and plan their meeting without having to scroll through your boyish comments.
Mel & Co., good luck! I hope you can do someting that in the end will attract more women into photography. I know many very good female photographers, but as a whole, you are in a terrible minority, at the forum, in camera clubs, in the photo-profession etc. This has contributed to keeping me away from traditional camera clubs the last decade, despite a long background there. I do not like a completely male company too often. It can give a bad atmosphere. So I have selfish reasons to wish you good luck! Show others that we as a communicty cannot be described as a bunch of male camera-geeks. Build a strong sisterhood here and get more women to join the forum.

For May it would have to be pre-Memorial day definitely. I'll get in touch with my friend with the townhouse and see what availability looks like the first two weekend in May and we can go from there.
