Pentaxian Student to Travel Asia!

Dear Pentaxian,

Im currently finishing up my final year in college at the University of California San Diego. As a graduation present I have received funding from family to travel on my own to Asia next summer. Traveling to asia is something that my older siblings had done years ago with family when I was too young to travel. But things have changed and my Grandparents who normally lead the trips to asia can no longer travel. Thus they have left it up to me to find my ways and discover the history of my heritage through traveling.

Which leads me here...to an international community of pentaxians!

Im curious if people here might be interested in hosting a student (me) for anywhere from a few days to a week at a time. I plan on backpacking through many of the south east asian countries (Thailand, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, ect) and perhaps more (depending on how long funding lasts!). Most likely Ill have my pentax camera in hand and will most likely be taking photos along the way!

I think it would be a great way to meet the people that make up this online community as well as share and gain more from our hobby of photography

A little about me...

My twin brother and I were born in Taiwan in 1988 and were both adopted by an asian american family. I've grown up and lived all my life in the quiet suburbs south of San Francisco, California in the US. I've always been fascinated by wildlife, plants, and critters of all kinds. My interested in photography stems back from my days as a kid with disposable film cameras (your laughing i know). When my father passed away in high school I was left with a void in my life that was partially amended by a passion for taking photos... something which really grew when i acquired a k10d about two years ago. I recently returned from an opportunity to study in Costa Rica and have returned with a re inspired appreciation for the life we have and the world we live in.

Im willing to volunteer too!

Youll gain the friendship of an outgoing international student, a photo buddy for a few days or a week, ability to play with some of my gear/ DA* lenses, great photos, and the reward of knowing you helped make a fellow young pentaxian's dream come true!


So if you're interested just give me a shout. Its a little less than a year away but any advice/interest/ideas even now will help!
