Hey, awesome... Thanks for the heads up... I've been meaning to head over the pass to do some high country, and eastside shooting . Maybe you're post here will get me to do it...
Last year, the aspen on Sonora Pass went from green to dead with very little time showing colors at all. Looked like bananas going bad...
I'm on the other side of the continent in the Adirondacks of NY. This week will probably be the peak of the fall foliage for this year. I drove through the central Adirondacks this past weekend and the higher elevations were at peak with the valleys still with a lot of green. This was shot in the late afternoon in Long Lake, NY Saturday. Not one of my finest shots. It was on and off heavy rain showers so I didn't get many shots but this is typical of the Adirondack foliage this week.

Holy Cr@p that is color! And seamingly Early, though its getting cooler down here in MD now too.
I'd love to see more shots from the area, Been up there once, love to get back

I'm trying without a whole lot of luck. The weather has been horrible. The shot I posted was in the northwestern Adirondacks at a fairly high elevation. The season comes early. I was hopeful for this weekend around home in the southern mountains around Glens Falls/Saratoga. A big storm with a lot of wind blew most of the color away midweek so most of the shots I got were unimpressive. I was hoping for some great foliage shots to post for the Pentax World Day and was disappointed. The forecast for tonight is rain changing to snow and more snow for later in the week so the leaf peeping season is almost done.
Beautiful shot of that sugar shack.
I had planned on doing an overnight kayak trip from Long Lake up the Raquette River to Tupper last summer but the weather got too ugly (heavy t-storms). There is some very beautiful wild country through there. A pretty good coating of snow fell this past week according to our drivers who deliver in the area.
