Western Massachusetts Gathering April or May

First Thanks Adam for setting up the sub-section.

So I a friend and I started thinking about setting up a little gathering in the next few weeks. My friend is a Nikon shooter We had lunch and though about putting out the word for a get together in the city of Northampton (sorry guys across the pond not that one) MA. City of Northampton: Home It is a great city and some may have heard of it. It is not where I live but a mere hop skip and a jump. It has a great arts community and lots of little nooks and crannies with in walking distance.

My friend belongs to the Nikoncafe forum and a few others. He knows there are a handful of relatively local folks and I know there are a handful or so in the New England area here. So he and I are putting out a call to see if we have enough interest to do this. Or it will be him and I in a Nikon Pentax shoot out He has a very nice D300

So we have a few dates that we are working on. I thought during the week would be great as the city has a good flow of people. Harry (my friend) thinks that could hurt the chances of folks being able to come. Saturday is also a very busy day in NOHO and they have a farmers market (I think it will be running soon). So we have a couple of dates and time and will narrow it down over the next week or so and pick one or two.

This will just be a friend gathering to put names to faces and maybe come up with a contest of sorts. I have spinning in my head something like a scavenger hunt with your camera. Sorry no cash prizes but maybe we can come up with something. Lots of details but trying to keep it simple.

Here are the dates and in the poll to get a gage of what works for anyone interested.

Saturday, April 12
Wednesday, April 16
Saturday, May 17th
Wednesday, May 21st

We talked about a 9:00am starting time. Perhaps we could meet under the overhang of the Calvin Theatre and go from there, then break for lunch and meet at Jakes (next to the Calvin Theatre) and exchange stories, pics, etc.

We are toying with times. I think a morning start 9ish would be best and end around maybe lunch or to talk break bread and talk.

Comments suggestions are needed to make it work.

I will be putting this also out to a flickr group of Noho and New England shooters as well.

I may come up. I have friends and relatives in ct. that I could stay with so it wouldn't be so bad, plus get to see more areas than before. I have to see time wise but prob the last 3 I could do

Looks like we are going with May 17th for this meet up. Maybe now that a firm date is picked folks may respond with more interest. Seems like a long time away but it will be here soon. I will keep all those interested posted as we get closer. Rough guess at the moment is between 5-10 folks. BUt that could change as I think having a date and asking what woks for everyone will garner more interest.

Brandon I would be honored if you can make it. That is a long hall for you so if you can make it lunch and coffee in the morning is on me. So stay tuned.
