I signed up here in Savannah, Ill see how it turns out. I doubt equipment matters.

I've signed up for the San Diego Worldwide Photo Walk. I don't see what difference it would make what gear you are using. I guess I'll find out right?
The last time I looked, there wasn't a San Diego walk organized yet, and today I look and not only is there one, it's full!
I'm in Toronto for the summer, so I'm doing the one up here, so we'll see.
Last couple photo group events I went to in S.D. with my Pentax gear, I noticed the N & C crowd looking down at me a bit, and I felt a bit on the outside (the only Pentax shooter there), even at the zoo "no respect at all" while before I switched from Canon this Spring, I'd show up with my "L" lenses and get treated very differently. I know I should be a bigger person and be more confident when I'm out in public amongst photographers, but that's a different story.
I've definitely had a fun summer up her in Toronto meeting and hanging out with the Pentax people I've met here on the forum and elsewhere. I'm really up for organizing a San Diego Pentax get together when I am back this fall.

get used to that. Pentax is the underdog, always has been and a lot of canon and nikon shooters look at Pentax as second rate... always have. just take solace in the fact that you have an excellent camera, excellent lenses with superb IQ, all at a much lower price without sacrifice in quality. just smile to yourself and enjoy being a 'Pentaxian', its a club with some of the best people you'll ever meet.

normally I would agree Gooshin. but Im looking at this as a chance to meet new people and learn new things. maybe it will be worth it, maybe not. but I think Ill take the chance and find out.

got a few good shots. was aiming to usea FA50 F1.4/M50 F2 and a Takumar Bayonet 135, but i ended up mainly using my DA fisheye anda Tamron 18-200
Gearhead wise, when a 1DsII + EF28-300L user looks at your camera and says it's a nice one, you feel kinda good. no C&N snobbery here, though we Pentax shooter (all 2 of us, me and my K200D, and someone with a K100D Super) were outgunned by Oly shooters (2 E1s and an E3). an old granny was using an Alpha in live view mode too.
somehow the idea of a large gathering of photographers doesn't sit well with me, ive always thought of it as a more private engagement.
how do you guys feel?
Well yes I do have the best time out shooting by myself. And most times on a get together with a group (at least our San Diego Digital SLR group) we gather at the beginning for a photo of the group there (always fun and funny), then we go our separate ways and meet up for lunch after a couple hours. It is GREAT to talk to other like minded individuals. I always learn something new. It is always a really good experience.
Tomorrow is the San Diego "Photo Walk", I hope we have clear sky since we'll be meeting pretty early.
I was at the San Diego part of the World wide photo walk. I thought i was the only pentaxian but i guess there were two of us. Here are some of my shots from the walk. Flickr: jzamora1984's Photostream

Thank for looking.

I should pay better attention! Did you go to lunch too? I wish I would have met you.
It appear you were hanging around the lily pond at least for a while right? That is where I started off the walk, but wandered from there. I love that squirrel shot you caught. It really stands out in the images from the group. I'm still working on my shots. Work and family just don't give me enough time .
I participated here in Savannah, GA. not only was I the only Pentaxian, I was the only one using film. I only took a few shots with digital, some street shots in B&W. the rest were on film and its not developed yet. it was ok, met a few nice people. it was bright and sunny for the whole two hours but right after that it started raining again and it had been raining for days before so that was neat. not many people out though so not a whole lot of photo oppurtunites for my type of photography... here is the flicker page for our city: Flickr: Scott Kelby?s Worldwide Photo Walk: [Savannah, GA]

Here is a link to some of the images I uploaded from the day. The walk started early, which was good for lighting, but not so for my favorite photos to take at Balboa Park, and that is the street performers and people. After lunch I watched some of the dancers that were performing in the park this day. Those images are on page 4 & 5 for the most part. LaRee | Worldwide Photo Walk San Diego
