First, thanks to all for the invaluable postings on IR conversions.
With Frank's help I got an IR converted K100D. Couldn't be happier (well, maybe if I had a K10D IR).
I recently bought a new K10D with the thought that I would have it converted to IR. Then I did more reading and hit a snag!!! Here is my question:
Does the "built in" shake reduction ("SR") in the K10D make the IR conversion impossible? Very much more difficult?
Does anyone have a guess on when LifePixel (or similar company) might start offering IR conversions for Pentax brand cameras?
Thanks for any help.
Jack
I'm not sure SR has much to do with IR conversion, but the K100D is natively better for IR photography given no high pass filter on its sensor as the K10D does.
My IR attempts with Hoya R72s were much easier with the K100D than the K10D, but it is still possible to get similar results - just need a much longer exposure on the k10D.
I have checked with Lifepixel a number of times, and their answer is that they are not planning to offer Pentax camera conversions, as the models are not as popular as Canon, Nikon etc,. I have informed themk a large number of people have Pentax Dslr's and want to convert. They do not seem interested at all.
