A lot of those lenses appear to be aimed at the back of the head of the person in front of them. Looking for head lice macro shots maybe?

I like this from the comments section:

I saw a press tog's blog showing him packing his equipment before he set off to the games...he had 5 1ds bodies ( and another Canon dSLR body..don't know what ), a couple of Peli cases and rucksacks full of lenses and a load of other gear ( laptops and such... ).

He got up late on the first day and missed everything....

I guess the one photo lesson he failed to internalize is "f8 and be there"

Has anyone seen a Pentax in the crowd yet? I figure there has to be at least on contrarian. If not Pentax, what about Olympus?

Man that's nearly sick...
but as rfortson wrote, classy would be to see at least one Pentax guy there... we have some of those big grey beasts in arsenal too, so why not to mount them on K20 and go there...

Shouldn't Mark Dimo be there shooting beach volleyball? He uses a K20D and the 600/4. That would be cool to pick him out of the crowd!

Two things I wonder...

1) How many times did someone get whacked in the back of the head by a $5k lens... talk about tight quarters
2) How many times did the thought "Ha, mine's bigger" crossed their minds...

Looks like Canon is losing market share... I guess no more "Inspired by Canon" for them

They have a clue.

Why stop there? I'd rather see a guy with a Spotmatic and a 500mm Takumar on it.

OF COURSE there WAS a Pentax. The guy who shot the image. Pentax users are NOT followers, they're leaders.

Pentax users look for the extraordinary and to what's REALLY happening around them. I know I do.

Left eye

Funny thing . . . the left-eye shooters (right side of frame) jumped out at me, then I looked at the gear.

Me too Paul as I have no choice but to shoot that way. Quite the collection and I bet there were even more off frame. And they are all taking the same shot for different media, couldn't 3 shooters do the same and sell it several media sources?

Notice they all shop for vests at the same place.

Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera.
