Its my birthday!! (Friday)

Its my birthday tomorrow, and my lovely wife picked out the best present... a gift certificate to B+H !!!

So here's what I have:
K100D, Zenitar16mmFE, Vivitar28/2, M28/3.5, M35/2.8, FA50/1.4, M100/4 1:2Macro, M135/3.5, M200/4, DA18-55

extension tubes, lowepro Photorunner shoulder bag, Bogen monopod, bogen 484RC ballhead? (the small one), a crappy tripod.

I enjoy taking snaps of the family, landscape when vacationing, toyed around with bug Macros this summer...

So, pretend you are the salesman, and I just walked in with a $250 hole in my pocket. What do you think I should get??

first of all happy B-day. Many more to come...
second, with your gear, really hard to say... Maybe a good tripod to replace the crappy one? Or something rectalinear, really wide (wider than 28 you have)...
Anyway, happy spending...

Happy birthday!

I vote for a tripod or (for a few bucks more) a Pentax FA 35/2. (I know the 35 is close to your 28, but I know that I find the 35mm focal length to sort of be a natural on APS-C.)

Steve

(Gotta get me one of those wives...)

Wow Russell, good work on the list, would you like to be my personal shopper when it's my birthday next month? I'm thinking of a better tripod myself, budget up to $350

Unless you're really in love with your teleprimes, I would suggest that you sell either the M135 or M200 and take the proceeds from that sale, along with your gift card and buy yourself the following:
Pentax | SMCP-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Autofocus Lens | 21720

If you don't need to go all the way out to 300mm, then get the following:
Pentax | SMCP-DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED Autofocus Lens | 21567
and
Bogen / Manfrotto | 190XB Tripod Legs (Black) | 190XB | B&H
This tripod, along with the head you have is rated to support 8.8 lbs.
I know that this goes over $250, but if you sell a lens or 2, you should be able to cover it.

HTH,
Heather

First, Happy Birthday.

Honestly, if I was the salesman, I would suggest that you share your generous fortune with others. I'll take a tripod. I'll PM you the address in which you can send it.

Randy.

A good tripod/head combo such as the 055XB setup mentioned above - especially if you're diggin on the macro stuff. Solid legs make all the difference in the world.

It would appear that having a lovely wife willing to give you a gift card for your birthday is all a man could ever want. I don't have a wife like that, so therefore, you should sent the gift card to me.
