Good news...dropped a lens

I have a 24-90mm Pentax lens. I love the range for a stroll but I've not been able to get focus lock even in fairly good light. I'd switched to just manual focus for that lens and my eyes sure aren't what they used to be.

Yesterday, I was doing some housekeeping with my camera gear and set the lens on a table. It rolled, unnoticed, and fell a little over two feet to the tile floor. I grabbed it and put it on the camera. It worked fine.

When I went out an hour later, I noticed I was getting a focus lock. Even in dim light I'd get a focus lock and the focus seems to be more accurate. Apparently, the fall did something beneficial.

Fortunately, it's the only lens I have a problem with so I don't have to drop the other lenses.

I have one that I have to rap on something to get it to close up from full open but I dont think dropping it will help it. Rust on apature blades. How lucky you are that it still works. Maybe these lenses are tougher than we think? jim
