that is it! you could all sort s of gadgets and gear but what you have should work no problem.

you have the basics with what you have.

You could add a reflector of some sort, either an yumbrella or large white card, if the walls indoors are not a good color for bounce.

i agree with whats been posted.

the setup you have is what I work on. a large reflector might be nice to work with, but you can go and shoot with what you have.

i would gather that since you asked the question you did, you have never shot portraits like this before. so i would suggest getting someone to model for you so that you can practice your fill flash technique.
you might be amazed at the effects you can make with what you have.
that light on the top of your camera can help to create some really cool images. 8)

good luck and post some shots later on. i'm sure some people on here might want to check em out and with your permission give you some critique as well.

good luck again. have fun, charge a lot and be cool.

16-55 f/2.8? Didn't think such a thing existed. Closest matches I know of are:

16-50 f/2.8
18-55 f/3.5-5.6

Stuffed animals work just a good as people for what Mitch has said.

I wanted to add that if you can figure out remote flash it'll even add more effects to your photographs.
I rarely shoot with the flash on my camera these days
