Yeah - you'll need the correct amount of fog, and the right angle - as the rays will just disappear depending on your angle.
I was walking through the woods and happened to have this patch of fog drift by. It lasted about 10 minutes, so I was basically running around taking shots.
The morning after an overnight rain while it's clearing up is usually a good time to find fog, but it's a fine line from where it starts to burn off enough that sun rays come through like this and the point where the fog is gone.
