Anyone had any luck buying, or selling, anything using Craigslist?

I posted a few things but never sold any. But I live in a small town area here in the panhandle of Fl.

I have tried to sell an entertainment center with no luck If I sell it I can get a nice big screen to hang on the wall . But that was before the holidays so I will try again. I posted a kit lens and had one really buyer that wanted to haggle me into basically giving it to him for next to nothing. I have had friends say they have had great luck buying and selling.

A good friend of mine has sold many items on craigslist. I never notice any good, reasonable camera equipment on there though - I think eBay has cornered the market on small, easily-shipped items.

He's sold tractors, furniture, washers/dryers, and other big stuff. (Some of it was expensive, too.)

I listed my '73 BMW R75 motorcycle on Craigslist in New Orleans, and had a guy come from Chicago to pick it up after several offers from Texas/Louisiana. I try to check it at least once a week, but never find anything I am interested in.

I've bought a few things on craigslist - the first was somewhat serendipitous. I'd just been testing out a road bike at the store, wanted to buy it but didn't want to spend that kind of money, checked craigslist when I got home at the suggestion of a friend, and found the exact bike on sale from a guy who was upgrading to the fancier model of same bike). Saved several hundred dollars.

I also once bought a spotmatic with three lenses and some random filters - the start of my screwmount collection. There's not often much pentax gear though.

I sell all kinds of stuff on both Craigslist and Kijiji. Mostly camera equipment and electronics. Got to feed my need for more gear some way. Just sold the Lomo I had posted here before I withdrew the items from the forum. Bought a bunch of stuff on both also.

Here's a secret, for when your traveling.

Look under Jobs, Art Media Design.
And you'll from time to time find a paying job at your destination.
However most people looking for photographers on there don't want to pay very much. I've seen people looking for pro's and offering $30.00

I bought my Pentax *ist DS, with a couple of lenses and a camera case on Craigslist.

I found the stable I work, and ride at on Craigslist, and when we moved, we also furnished most of our house off of cheap Craigslist furniture.

I've bought several items off the list - I just try to meet at a public place if it's a fairly high amount of $$. Got some great deals that way.

Me or members of my family have gotten guite a bit of stuff from there. My father-in-law just bought a 30' travel camper for less than half the book value. I've gotten any number of aquariums and related accessories mostly for free. I see a lot of camera gear listed, but don't pay any attention if there's not any Pentax gear listed (almost never).

I can see Tamron 75-300/4-5.6 ( AF75-300mm F/4-5.6 LD; Tamron USA, Inc. ) listed for USD $50 for a week within 40 miles from me and still available... but it is not a good lens in general unfortunately... not sharp, etc.
