Like Smokey the Bear Only You can prevent Site Slowness

I think we all have noticed some response issues the last few days. If you look at some of the statistics we have a new 'most users online' daily (today is now the new record). I remember when 300 something was the record for a few months - todays new high is 747. Now with rumors of the K20D alot of this traffic are guests - still I was guest at one time.

Adam has indicated the servers are just being overloaded and in need of an overhaul or replacement. I know a lot of member’s contribute what they can and have contributed more than once, myslef included and that is great. There are a little over 5,000 members so if each of us contributes a $1000.00 that would be $5 million for Adam and he can concentrate on being solely a site admin

Ok that may be a stretch , but the point is $10.00 helps - every little bit helps. If you can contribute please do so. There are several domination choices from $10.00 - $100.00 (I think). This site is growing which is a good thing for all of us. So please contribute what you can.

Good point. Today being a good example. I could not get in for what seemed like an hour. Even email Ed to see if it was just me. I will be making a donation today. As I realized today like any other addict you have to pay to play just joking and no offence to any real addicts.

There was a pull-down and $75 was the highest when I did it. I would have done $100 but it wasn't in the pull-down and I didn't see a free-form input. I'll do it again all the same within the year if Adam requests it, needing to move hosting services or something.

I wish there was a free form. I didn't contribute as much as I would have simply because I'll forget the date(already have) that I contributed and I don't like the fact that money could be deducted from my account that I didn't plan for. Adam, if I could contribute any time I wanted for a one time deal (non recurring), you would get more from me.

What makes you think it is a re-occuring payment ? Did I miss something ? How can it be re-occruing unless you have granted access to your bank account or Credit Card ?

I thought yes there was a yearly contribution but if you did not contribute then all that would happen is you would loose your 'Site Supporter" status ?

One of us is confused is it me ?

It's the sentence "Validity periods marked * indicate that purchasing this subscription is recurring, this means after the period is complete it will automatically be renewed. " at the bottom of the "Available Donation Options" page that is causing the confusion I imagine. Looking @ the selections ($100 option is there now ) I don't see any marked with a '*', so I guess it's a selection that's not implemented due to the technicality in registering and executing it?

Adam said:
Yearly just means that your upgraded account is valid for one year (I'll probably extend it manually, though, even after a year has passed)

I guess that's a bit ambiguous- I should clarify it on the donation page: it is a one-time donation.
I'll gladly send another donation to support the site in March - jeeze, almost a year already! Time flies when you're havin' fun!
