I guess becoming what is propably the most popular English-speaking Pentax forum on the net has its drawbacks.
Sometimes I find myself wishing for the days when pages would load immediately. Now, it reminds me of one of the reasons I left Steve's behind.
We're growing too fast for our pants when my browser times-out.

A couple of days ago when I logged in I noticed the normal handful of folks on all of the subforums. All except for the News and Rumors section.....which had about 485 people browsing it. I suspect traffic will drop down to near normal again after the embargo is gone and people quit googling their way here in search of secret news leaks.
I was thinking of a poll, where we gave some options of how many people we thought would hit the site at one time, on the 24th, when pentax is supposed to show the world what it has been up to.
What do you think? My guess is that everything crashes and burns at about 2000
My guess is that everything crashes and burns at about 2000
That's funny, and I can see it happening. There will be at least 1000 registered users, and probably double that in guest users... *poof*
I'll have to check in late to see what all the hubbub was all about.

We'll have to ask Adam how many simultaneous users this version can take. I also imagine the hosting costs are probably on the way up too, due to bandwidth.
I suppose this will also be a real test of his hosting company of choice.

That's a week away
If I remember to I'll avoid the site that day.
I can wait a day or 2.
I'm more interested in when they hit the showroom floor.
I wonder if the local shop will get their supply ahead of time, with orders not to display them or what

Sorry Dan, I disagree. [Edit] It's the [End Edit] openesss of the forum that has made it what it is.

Lurked around awhile before registering. Think most people do. It would be a mistake to close the forum to unregistered people. The site will just have to grow. It will either do it now or later. May as well plan for it now.
Hope Mo can keep it as nice as it is now. Another site has gone to ads everywhere. Really gets in the way and on the nerves (the way they did it). This is why I sent this site another donation. Don't want to lose the atmosphere. Send in some money people. Keep the place nice.
thanks
